1/2 tsp baking soda
1 pinch ground ginger
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter cold, but into small cubes
1 large eggs lightly beaten
3/4 cup buttermilk cold
1 cup fresh cranberries coarsely chopped, you can used thawed and drained berries from the freezer although the scones will have a more pink color
1 tsp lemon zest Meyer
1 beaten eggs for brushing the tops of the scones before baking
turbinado or granulated sugar for sprinkling on top before baking
