Ingredients

2 cups half & half or whole milk
1 pinch table salt
5 large egg yolks chalazae removed, see note
3 tbsps corn starch
4 tbsps unsalted butter cold, cut into 4 pieces
1 1/2 tsps vanilla extract
1 tbsp heavy cream with 1-2 tablespoons additional, as needed
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 6 1/4 ounces
2/3 cup confectioners sugar about 3 ounces
1/4 tsp table salt
8 tbsps butter 1 stick, very cold, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
2 kiwi large, peeled, halved and cut into half-moon slices, my kiwis were teensy tiny so I just left them in circles
1 pt raspberries blemished berries discarded
1/2 pt blueberries sorted, discarding any stems or blemished berries
1/2 cup apple jelly
