Ingredients

2 cups chana dal dried, soaked for at least an hour
4 inches ginger length of, peeled & chopped into 4 pieces
1 tbsp tumeric dried
10 dried chile to taste/depending on your chillies
6 cloves garlic crushed
3 cloves garlic thinly sliced
2 tbsps oil I used cold-pressed rapeseed
salt to taste
ground black pepper plenty of freshly
2 tbsps oil I used cold-pressed rapeseed
1 tbsp cumin seed
10 shallots small round, or similar, thinly sliced
eggs poached, see my technique for perfectly poached eggs here, optional
1 slice whole grain sourdough optional
1 handful fresh coriander
yogurt dollops of Greek/Turkish
